A Linux-based Open Services Networking Module (OSN|M) is integrated within 3Com routers and switches to provide an open service delivery platform from which a variety of software-based services can be run.

The OSN Control Agent (OSN|CA), embedded in the OSN Module, tightly integrates the solution. Driven through a secure web portal, the OSN|CA provides a set of security, provisioning and management tools that includes a traffic control engine and mechanisms to facilitate upgrades, backup and multi-unit installation.

The OSN|CA Software Development Kit (SDK) allows developers to create and execute applications on the Open Services Networking Module (OSN|M). Such applications are capable of dictating or determining the flow of traffic on OSN-enabled hardware. OSN|M can be deployed in various ways as detailed in the hardware configuration guide.
